Tucson’s Southern Arizona Grotto is an energetic caving club that’s active in the preservation and enjoyment of caves throughout Arizona. As one of the two grottoes of the NSS (National Speleological Society) based in Tucson, Arizona, our membership includes more than 40 cavers (and a few non-cavers) of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels. We take time to train new cavers to cave safely and with an understanding of the impact each human visit can have on a cave. We’re involved in the survey (mapping) of new caves, the preservation of existing caves throughout Arizona, the restoration of damaged caves, and educating the public on the fragility of our underground environments. And sometimes we just go caving for fun!

dropletSouthern Arizona Grotto meetings are always open to the public, and you can find the next meeting on our calendar. If you wish to learn more about caving, we hope you’ll come to a meeting and introduce yourself.  If you’re an experienced caver new to Tucson, by all means come by and check us out.
